  • ⟐ COLOUR, CULTURE & CONTRASTS

Autumn in Japan is an enticing time to make images as this diverse country moves colourfully from summer green to winter white. We invite you to join a small group on a special photo tour to explore the stunning coastal landscapes of old Japan’s Noto Peninsula, Mount Fuji with it’s lakes and forests, the surprising modern and traditional cityscapes of Tokyo, a famous exquisite ancient garden, and the intimate beauty of Kyoto’s serene cultural treasures.

This photo tour is carefully paced for thoughtful photographers, giving you maximum time to connect with the people, culture and landscape in focused and interesting ways, so that you can create images that reflect your experiences at a greater depth. Led by two professional photographers, who know Japan well and are generous coaches, this is a great opportunity to follow your creative ambitions while exploring this fascinating country.

⟐ Hokkaido Intensive PHOTOGRAPHIC TOUR

  • ⟐ HOKKAIDO INTENSIVE

A journey through the unique Winter landscapes of Hokkaido in northern Japan. With a small photography tour size, you will be inspired to create images that reflect the poetic beauty of farmlands, mountains and hills under snow.

Moving to the coast we will marvel at the sea ice and sculptural shore protection. Visiting inland lakes, we look for elegant environmental images of the famous red-crowned Japanese cranes and whooper swans. Your creativity will be well supported by coaching, teaching and conversation.

What People Are Saying

“An amazing Japan trip Robert. Simply astounding is the breadth and depth of cultural experience you manage to cram into two weeks  - all the while maintaining that relaxed and easygoing vibe.

And from Hokkaido’s stunning silent winter landscapes, to fast trains, hidden gems and bustling cities … to onsen bathing, ryokans, sensational cuisine, kabuki theatre, snow monkeys, and divine temples and shrines, the gobsmackingly gorgeous photo opportunities were boundless.”

“Nothing could ever surpass the very privileged and rare access you gave us to the beguiling Geiko and Maiko of Kyoto and the ancient tea houses. Truly special!

You have an uncanny knack too, of selecting THE BEST local guides. Dai and Aike were so knowledgable, engaging, friendly and thoughtful. But none of this is any surprise. You have done it all before with us in Bhutan and India - all our 'best ever’ tours!.”

“What a great winter trip to Japan with Robert and Dai. Professionally run, with all the operational details well taken care of, including transportation, food and lodging.

Each day featured a new view and perspective on the beauty of Japan with all levels of photographic experience supported.

I have traveled to Japan over 200 times, a professional photographer for over 10 years and yet on this tour I captured new and exciting images for the first time thanks to Robert and Dai’s tour leadership.

Such a great trip I have booked another with them, many in our group were repeat students. Highly recommended!”

“Robert and Daisuke provided an excellent and memorable photographic journey in Japan.  The tour had the right balance of urban and rural locations and modern and traditional settings with sufficient time to explore the many photographic opportunities.  The tour started on the right note and each day got better and better culminating in the tea ceremony and geiko and maiko photoshoot in Kyoto.  We thoroughly recommend the Seeing Japan Autumn tour and have already made plans to do another Japan tour with Robert and Daisuke.”

‘I was constantly delighted…The thing that sticks in my mind is the creativity with which you chose places that offered such a range of experiences – and the gentle way you helped us get the best out of them as the trip unfolded… I think your pedagogy was outstandingly good… I absolutely loved the joint image review sessions… I made huge advances in my self-belief as a photographer and in ‘getting’ what photography is all about.’
