Studio Update November 2025

Hi Folks,

I’m just back from a month away in Bhutan and Japan.

Today I have finalised the printing of sold art works from the October Open Studio, together with associated certificates. If you are waiting on a print you will have received an email to let you know they are ready to be picked up.

I do plan to leave the existing exhibition, pretty much as it was for the recent open studio, for the next few weeks. So should you or your friends want to visit, you are most welcome. Just email or direct message via instagram to set a time. Please add your phone number and I will message back with address details.

My immediate plan up to Christmas is to do a little rearranging of the spaces off the main studio exhibition room, so that much of the woodwork tools come out of the ceramics workshop, giving me more space there. Those tools go into the room on the opposite side which will become focused on woodwork and urushi. Meanwhile, paper and bookmaking migrate to the print room which also holds my big printer. Hopefully that will make for better dust management, as well as better focused workspaces. Maybe I will also add a little more shelving in the kiln room.

I go back to Japan in mid-January to continue working on the ‘still – winter’ body of work in Hokkaido. Before then I will be reviewing and test printing some of the existing images from this body of work. I suspect there are actually two different themes so, if that seems true, I will start to tease apart the work into two different portfolios.

I have been looking at quite a lot of ceramics while in Japan. Most days I visited a couple of galleries or studios. That means I have lots of ideas to play with but I will also try to get some test prints up from the ‘still  –  winter’ series so the ceramics can bounce off those as well.

Best wishes

Robert
